Faith Group LLC, a security and technology consulting and engineering firm, has purchased a larger space in Maplewood for $825,000.

The 10,600-square-foot building, the former Steve Adams Studio located at 3101 S. Hanley Road, was acquired May 26. Faith Group Managing Principal Wendy Wilke said the company had outgrown its current headquarters. The company plans to move to its new office by early September.

Faith Group purchased the new office space from Steve and Barb Adams, who constructed the building in 1985 and used it as a photography studio for the past 30 years. Hal Ball, vice president and principal at Hilliker Corp., represented the Adamses in the sale.

“We knew we were going to max out on space in our current place by this summer,” Wilke said. “We’ve been looking for a building for the past six months or so.”

The new space is about three times the size of Faith Group’s current offices at 930 N. McKnight Road, a 3,200-square-foot building in Olivette.

Faith Group is working with architecture firm Wolfe Architecture & Design and general contractor Stephens Development LLC to tear down the building’s existing partitions and build new walls to make offices and conference rooms.

Faith Group ranked No. 41 on the St. Louis Business Journal’s 2014 list of the largest women-owned companies. Revenue has increased 31 percent from $6.7 million in 2012 to $8.8 million in 2014. Wilke said the firm’s primary work is in planning, designing and engineering information technology systems for airports, but Faith Group has been growing in providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering to health care organizations. While its St. Louis market has been experiencing the most growth, the company hopes to expand into the health care and federal industries in Minneapolis.

The company also has hired four new employees in engineering and administrative support in its St. Louis office since the beginning of the year. It has locations in Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Gaithersburg, Maryland, as well.

Wilke and Faith Varwig, Faith Group principal, expect revenue to grow by 15 percent to 20 percent by the end of 2016, and plan to hire three engineers or IT designers by the end of the year. The firm has 24 employees in its St. Louis office and 34 total.

Hilliker’s Ball said Global Recruiters of St. Louis, a staffing firm specializing in the energy, power and construction industries, has an office in the building and would remain on a month-to-month lease with Faith Group.
